BACK TO BACK IN WHITE  
For the first time this season, Emporia State will play back to back games in White Auditorium as they take on Missouri Southern.   
 
THE COACHES
Jory Collins is 51-24 in his third year as the head coach of the Lady Hornets and has guided them to the MIAA Tournament Championship Game in each of his first two seasons. He has seven wins against Top 25 teams. This is his 12th season on the Lady Hornet coaching staff and Emporia State has advanced to the NCAA tournament in ten of those seasons. He is 3-1 against Missouri Southern.
Maryann Mitts is 185-137 in her 12th year at Missouri Southern and 268-193 in her 17th year overall. She is 5-19 against Emporia State at MSSU and 5-23 against the Lady Hornets overall.

ABOUT THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 8-6 on the year and 3-3 in the MIAA.  Their first 13 opponents are a combined 144-83 (.634) with the losses coming to teams that are 71-20 (.780) on the season. Nine of the 12 NCAA schools they have played have received votes in the WBCA National Poll or played in last year's NCAA Tournament.  
 
LAST TIME OUT
Laura Patrick led three Lady Hornets in double figures with 17 points as Emporia State defeated Missouri Western 62-55 on Sunday afternoon in White Auditorium. Patrick added a career high six assists  and was joined in double figures by Rachel Hanf with 12 and Merissa Quick with 11 points. Jocelyn Cummings had a game high 12 rebounds to go with her nine points.

ABOUT THE LIONS
Missouri Southern is 10-5 on the year and 4-3 in the MIAA. They have lost their last two games by three points and in overtime.  Nine of 12 players on the roster have started and no Lion averages in double figures on the season. Erin Rice is averaging 11.7 points per game in MIAA play.

THE SERIES    
The Lady Hornets lead the overall series 49-22, and have won 17 of the last 20 meetings overall. Emporia State has won 17 straight against Missouri Southern in White Auditorium dating back to the 1995-96 season.

LAST TIME VS. MISSOURI SOUTHERN
The #21 Lady Hornets shot .500 from the field for the game while holding Missouri Southern to just .333 shooting in a 79-65 win.  Rachel Hanf hit three straight three pointers to turn a 10-10 game into a 19-10 lead for Emporia State with 7:32 left in the first half. MSSU took a two point lead on Haley Weathers lay-up with 53 seconds left in the half.  Heather Robben then hit a three pointer with 32 seconds left to send Emporia State to the locker room up 27-25. A 12-1 run put the Lady Hornets ahead by 20 at 61-41 with 7:39 left in the game. Jocelyn Cummings had a team high 15 points on seven of eight shooting and was joined in double figures by Kathryn Flott with 14 and Heather Robben with 11 points.  

UP NEXT
The Lady Hornets play their third straight home game and second Sunday game when they play host to MIAA newcomer Central Oklahoma. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 1:30 p.m. on January 28.
