January 2, 2013-The Lady Hornets were tied with #6 Washburn at the 5:32 mark but the Lady Blues hit 11 of 13 free throws in the final 4:07 to secure a 79-68 win in a non-conference Turnpike Tussle in Topeka.
The Lady Blues led 35-27 at the half after shooting .519 from the field in the opening frame. The Lady Hornets hit four of their first six three-point attempts but were not able to score from inside the arc until 56.2 seconds were left in the half.
Laura Patrick and Jocelyn Cummings each scored 14 points to pace Emporia State while Haley Parker added 11 points off the bench. Rachel Hanf led the Lady Hornets with ten rebounds and three assists.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday, January 5 when they play host to #10 Ft. Hays State. Tip-off in White Auditorium is set for 1:30 p.m.
