September 22, 2012 - The Emporia State cross country teams captured the men's and women's competition, finishing in first place in both events at the Tabor Invitational in Newton, Kan.

Head coach Eric Wellman mentioned that preparation was key for both squads.

"For both the men’s and women’s teams, this was the best week we’ve had so far this season.  I challenged the teams with some extremely tough workouts this week and they knew going into the meet that their legs would be far from recovered.  They responded well to each workout and competed great this morning."

Wellman was pleased with the effort of Lindsay Cuadra, who helped lead the women's team, and David Keach's resiliancy coming off an illness.

The men's and women's cross country teams will host their first home meet at the ESU Invitational September 28 at Jones Park Cross Country Course.
