September 20, 2012 - The Emporia State soccer team played to a 0-0 tie in its first overtime game of the season against Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo.
Emporia State moves to 3-3-1, 0-1-1 MIAA. Southwest Baptist is now 4-3-1, 1-1-1 MIAA.
The Hornets forced 13 shots, with seven on target. Mindi Lozenski, Perri Mulder, Shannon Thomas, and Mallory Walden each had two shots. Walden also led the team in shots on goal, as both of her efforts were on target. Nikki Schmitz made four saves for the Hornets to earn a shutout.
The scoreless tie was the first of its kind since Emporia State and Lindenwood played to a 0-0 tie in Emporia on Sept. 25 of last year.
Emporia State concludes this week's slate versus Central Missouri on Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
