February 1, 2012 -- The Emporia State men's basketball team was outshot .511 to .414 as they fell 76-61 on the road at Central Missouri. The Hornets only got the free throw line 11 times, making eight shots while the Mules made 26 of 29 free throws.

ESU led by as much as five points in the first half but UCM outscored ESU 10-4 in the final three minutes to take a 30-26 lead into halftime. They would then score the first six points of the second half and ESU would never get closer than eight points in the second half.

Tola Lawal led the way hitting five of eight shots from the field and going five for five from the free throw line. He finished with 15 points as three Hornet finished in double figures. Troy Pierce came one rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Chris Sights shot .500 from the three point line adding 12 points to the Hornets total. Taylor Euler led the team with five assists.

ESU will return to the floor on Feb. 8 when Southwest Baptist comes to town. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from W. L. White Auditorium.
