November 4, 2012-Emporia State led Kansas State 19-18 with 4:52 left in the first half before falling 81-51 to the Wildcats in Bramlage Coliseum. It was the third time in three exhibition games, Emporia State held a first half lead after the first media timeout against their Division I opponent.
A Gavin Brown free throw gave the Hornets a 7-6 lead with 14:05 left in the half when the Wildcats went on a 7-0 run and took a 13-7 lead with 10:19 left. K-State would lead 18-11 when Terrence Moore and Brown combined on an 8-0 run to give Emporia State a 19-18 lead with 4:52 left. K-State responded with an 11-0 run of their own to take the lead for good.
The Hornets trailed 38-23 at the half and the Wildcat lead would reach 32 points before the final of 81-51.
Kaleb Wright led Emporia State with 11 points and five rebounds. Brown had eight points and a team high six boards as nine of the 11 Hornets that played scored for Emporia State.
The Hornets will open the regular season on Saturday, November 10 at Missouri S&T. Tip-off from the Bullman Multipurpose Building in Rolla, Mo. is set for 7:00 p.m.

In their three exhibition games Emporia State led Tulsa 9-7 with 14:23 left in the first half, led Kansas 14-12 with 11:51 left in the first half and Kansas State 19-18 with 4:52 remaining in the first half.
