November 26, 2012-Rheanna Egli had a career high 20 points to lead five Lady Hornets in double figures as #20 Emporia State defeated Kansas Wesleyan 88-56 on Monday night at White Auditorium.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 14-2 lead at the first media timeout and never trailed in the contest.  Emporia State would lead by as many as 22 points in the opening frame before Kansas Wesleyan closed with a 13-2 run of their own.  Laura Patrick hit a three pointer at the buzzer to break the run and send the Lady Hornets to the intermission leading 42-28.

Emporia State opened the second half with a 9-2 run to take a 20 point lead with 16:28 remaining. The lead would hover between 16 and 22 points until the Lady Hornets blew the game open with a 12-0 run capped by another Patrick three-pointer with 6:24 left for a 77-48 lead.  The lead reached as high as 33 points in the second half before settling for the 88-56 victory.

In addition to her 20 points, Egli dished a career high eight assists and had four steals.  She was joined in double figures by Patrick with 18 points, Desiree Wylie with 14 points and ten each from Rachel Hanf and Merissa Quick.  Quick nearly had a triple double as she pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked a career high eight shots.  As a team Emporia State made 12 of 24 treys, getting foru each from Patrick and Egli and two each from Hanf and Haley Parker.

The next action for the Lady Hornets will be their MIAA opener on Dec. 5 against Northeastern State.  Tip-off from Tahlequah, Okla. is set for 5:30 p.m.
