November 17, 2012-The Emporia State men hit just two of 25 shots from behind the three point line in a 65-60 loss at Western Oregon on Saturday night in Monmouth, Ore.  Kaleb Wright led Emporia State with 20 points and five rebounds.

Neither team took more than a four point lead in a first half that saw five ties and five lead changes.  The Wolves had the ball with the score tied with 4.5 seconds left in the half when the an additional .5 was put on the clock. Jordan Wiley knocked down a three pointer with .2 seconds left to give WOU a 29-26 lead at the break.

Wright scored Emporia State's first 11 points of the second half to give the Hornets a 37-36 lead with 14:23 left in the game. A Taylor Euler three-pointer gave Emporia State a 44-39 lead with 10:38 remaining.  Western Oregon then went on a 13-1 run to take a 52-45 lead at the 6:25 mark.

The Wolves led by seven with 44 seconds left after a pair of Devon Alexander free throws. Terrance Moore scored an old fashioned three point play with 36 seconds left to cut the lead to 60-56.  Rodney Webster hit two more free throws with 32 seconds left to push the lead back to six points for WOU.  Moore answered again with a layup with 24 seconds left and again with 16.8 left following a Brandon Troxwl turnover to pull the Hornets within two at 62-60.  Webster hit one of two free throws with 9.8 seconds left to give Emporia State a chance, but Euler's three missed and the Hornets fouled with .2 seconds left to set up the final margin.

Emporia State shot .590, 23 of 39, from inside the three point line but were an ice cold .080 from behind the arc.  The Hornets were eight of ten from the line, however the Wolves went 22 of 29 from the charity stripe including a seven of eight effort in the final 44 seconds.  Emporia State made six more shots from the field, had five fewer turnovers and outrebounded Western Oregon 35-34, but could not overcome five Wolves three pointers and the 14 point difference at the free throw line.

Wright was the only player in double figures for Emporia State with 20, but Moore and Gavin Brown each had nine points.

The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, November 20 when they play host to Missouri S&T.  Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 7:00 p.m.
