October 7, 2012- Tommi Bouknight scored her first career goal for Emporia State as the Hornets lost in stunning fashion as Missouri Western's Abby Widrig scored thirty seconds into overtime to give the Griffons the 2-1 at ESU Pitch in Emporia, Kan.

The Hornets held the advantage in nearly every offensive category, outshooting the Griffons 20-9. Mindi Lozenski led the team with five shots, two on target. Emporia State also possessed a 16-2 advantage in corner kicks, with 10 in the second half, and three coming in the final minute of regulation.

Widrig opened the scoring in the 11th minute when she found herself in on goal following a pass from Ashlyn Castillo. Widrig's shot found the right corner from eight yards out.

Following the goal, Emporia State enjoyed the majority of possession and put Missouri Western under constant pressure, peppering the Griffons's goal with 11 first half shots.

Bouknight evened the scored following a corner kick in the 36th minute. Lozenski placed the ball in the penalty box where Nichole Marean flicked in on with her head. Bouknight latched onto the loose ball to score via header from three yards out.

Emporia State maintained the momentum in the second half, and continued to keep the ball and apply pressure. The Hornets forced nine shots in the second half while holding Missouri Western to four.
