October 26, 2012 - Mindi Lozenski scored directly from a corner kick and had four shots in a losing effort as the Emporia State soccer team lost to Northeastern State 4-1 at ESU Pitch in Emporia, Kan.

Starting goalkeeper Melanie Nuessen made three saves while Shannon Thomas led the Hornets with two shots on goal.
Emporia State had a 4-2 advantage in corners and out shot Northeastern State 9-7 in the second half.

The Riverhawks took the lead in the 24th minute when Jennifer Clark turned in a deflection from six yards out, beating Hornets goalkeeper Melanie Nuessen. Eight minutes later, Elizabeth Cudjoe took a pass from Lindsey Latta and shot it into the upper right corner to make the score 2-0.

Lozenski pulled a goal back for Emporia State after the Hornets had earned a corner kick in the 58th minute. The ball went into the area and went directly into the net as several players on both sides failed to get a touch. The goal was Lozenski's fourth on the season.

Cudjoe set up Northeastern State's third goal when she found teammate Lindsey Latta in the 65th minute, and scored her second of the day off a cross from Clark in the 73rd minute.

Emporia State completes its season Sunday versus Central Oklahoma at ESU Pitch. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
