October 17, 2012 - Elizabeth High scored a goal and set up another as the Emporia State soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Drury in Springfield, Mo.
Emporia State was on the board after just eight minutes when Mallory Walden found High in the middle of the Drury penalty area, where she scored from eight yards out, her team-leading fourth of the season.
High assisted on the Emporia State's second goal, scored by Tommi Bouknight in the 22nd minute. The second goal was much like the first, as Bouknight found herself open in the middle of the penalty area, where she scored from six yards.
The Hornets extended their lead when Jordan Foutch found Mindi Lozenski in the 51st minute, who found the back of the net to give Emporia State a 3-0 advantage.
Drury was able to get on the board in the 60th minute when Caitlin Redmond's fourth of the season made the score 3-1.
Melanie Nuessen made her second start, and made three saves in a winning effort.
Emporia State returns to conference play Sunday when they take on Missouri Southern in Joplin. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
