ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Hornets will close out a two-game road trip on Feb. 1 against Central Missouri. ESU will play four of their final seven games away from home.
LAST TIMEOUT
ESU got outscored 20-13 in overtime by Truman in a 77-70 loss on the road. The game saw a combined 54 fouls which is the second most in the MIAA this season. With under two minutes to play in overtime and ESU trailing by two Truman converted a five point play. They hit a three pointer and two fouls shots following a foul in the screen to give TSU a seven point lead. Tola Lawal led the way for the Hornets scoring 15 points while Antonio DiMaria finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
THE COACHES
Shaun Vandiver is 8-11 in his first year at ESU. The former NBA round draft pick spent the last ten years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level, most recently at Boise State University. As a player he led Hutchinson CC’s to the 1988 NJCAA National Championship before earning first-team All-Big 8 honors at Colorado. He is 1-0 in his career against Truman.
Kim Anderson is 217-80 in his ninth season at Truman. He is 12-9 against Emporia State in his career.
SCOUTING THE MULES
Central Missouri is 14-4 and 10-3 in the MIAA this season. They are currently in first place in the MIAA. They are led by Widgett Washington off the bench who is averaging 12.6 points per game. Dominique Long and Boo Hunter are each averaging 12.4 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 106th meeting between the two teams with UCM holding a 66-39 overall advantage. The Hornets are 4-5 in the Multipurpose building over the last nine meetings.
LAST TIME VS. UCM
Taylor Euler hit a running lay-up with 5.2 seconds to play as the ESU pulled out a 74-72 win over Central Missouri. Chris Sights led the way for the Hornets scoring 24 points and going three for three from behind the three point line. Antonio DiMaria hit a career high six three pointers to score 18 points.

The Hornets return home for a two-game homestand beginning against Southwest Baptist on Feb. 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from W. L. White Auditorium.
