January 25, 2012-Heather Robben scored 27 points including nine points in the final minute to lead the #17 EMporia State Lady Hornets to a 73-65 win over Missouri Western in White Auditorium on Wednesday night.

ESU led by as many as 17 points in the first half and had 13 point lead with 12:23 remaining before MWSU started their comeback.  Jessica Koch, the MIAA's leading scorer, had 19 of her game high 33 points in the final 11:14 and pulled the Griffons into a tie at 57-57 with 4:16 left in the game.  Merissa Quick answered for ESU with an old fashioned three point play to give ESU the lead for good.  Western would cut the lead to one at 60-59 with 2:42 left but Robben then hit a pair of free throws with 1:58 left and Kathryn Flott hit a layup to give ESU a 64-59 lead with 1:11 left. Koch and Robben traded free throws until Robben hit a three pointer with 19 seconds left and the shot clock winding down to put ESU up 69-63. Koch missed two free throws with 12.5 seconds left and Robben scored on a full court pass from Rheanna Egli to give the Lady Hornets an eight point lead.

Quick joined Robben in double figures with ten points.  Dava Logsdon had a career high eight points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Truman.  Tip-off in Pershing Arena in Kirksville, Mo. is set for 1:00 p.m.
