January 22, 2012 -- The Emporia State men's basketball team shot just .188 from the field in the first half scoring a season low 14 points in a 71-45 loss to Northwest Missouri. The Hornets scored just 31 points over the two first quarters against the Bearcats this season.
The Bearcats shot .765 as they scored 44 points in the second half as ESU shot .300 in the second half and racked up 31 points. ESU shot a season low .167 from the three points line. The Hornets did shoot .733 from the free throw line in the second half scoring 11 of their 31 points from the charity stripes.
Tola Lawal was the lone Hornet to score in double figures as he finished with 12 points going 8 of 12 from the free throw line. Chris Sights had four Hornets field goal as ESU finished with only 12 on the afternoon and added nine points to five rebounds. Travis Dykman led the team with six rebounds while Taylor Euler led the team with three steals.
ESU will return to the floor on Jan. 25 when they face Missouri Western to close out a three-game homestand. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 from W. L. White Auditorium.
