January 14, 2012 -- The Emporia State men's basketball team shot a season low .430 from the field in a 67-48 loss in the Turnpike Tussle. Washburn, who led the MIAA in turnover margin, forced 15 to ESU's 11 and scored 18 points off them.

The Hornets trailed 33-21 going into the break and wouldn't get any closer as their only lead came with 18:04 remaining in the first half. ESU hit seven three pointers to WU's six, but the Ichabods outscored ESU 28-18 in the pain and 10-0 on fast breaks.

Tola Lawal led the Hornets on the afternoon scoring 12 points and adding three assists. Chris Sights added ten points and two steals in the Hornet effort. Travis Dykman had seven points while Taylor Euler and Antonio DiMaria both added six. Justin Ikhide had five points to go along with four rebounds.

The Hornets will be back in action on January 18 when Fort Hays State comes to town. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from W. L. White Auditorium.
