September 15, 2011 -- The Emporia State soccer team earned their second straight tie as they earned a 1-1 even slate at Fort Hays State. ESU got eight shots, all of which came on goal while Fort Hays State managed nine shots on frame.
 
Mallory Walden scored ESU's first, first half goal of the season taking a header off a Sarah Anderson corner kick in the 12th minute. The Tigers got the equalizer when Cindy Benitez scored a goal in the 56th minute. Walden finished with five shots on goal as she had her second goal of the season and Anderson picked up her second assist.
 
In goal Nikki Schmitz made a match high seven saves as she earned her second tie of the week for the Hornets.
 
ESU will face Missouri Western on Sept. 18 with a scheduled 1 p.m. kickoff.
