November 15, 2011-Merissa Quick scored 16 points with eight rebounds while Kelsey Balcom added 11 points and nine rebounds as the Emporia State Lady Hornets defeated Rockhurst 71-50 in the home opener at White Auditorium on Tuesday night.

There were five ties and seven lead changes in the first 16 minutes before the Lady Hornets ended the half on an 11-3 run to take control.

Sarah Wood scored 13 points and Rachel Hanf added 11 points as ESU put four players in double figures. Jocelyn Cummings dished a career high seven assists for the Lady Hornets.

ESU now has a ten day break before playing Ala.-Huntsville in the UWF Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 25 in Pensacola, Fla.
