November 21, 2011 -- The Emporia State men's basketball team hit six three pointers and were five of six from the charity strip in the final 24 second to pull out a 72-67 win over Bethany. The six three points would prove to be the difference as both teams hit 24 shots from the field on the night.

ESU never trailed by more than three points, but went into the half tied with the Swedes at 31 apiece. Bethany stayed in the game in the second half as well as ESU would not push their lead to more than five points until the 4:46 mark. The Hornets would lead only 63-60 with 2:26 to play but got a lay-up from Chris Sights and four free throws late from Derrell Conner to ice the victory.

Taylor Euler led the Hornets with 16 points shooting .500 from behind the three-point line. Derrell Conner added 11 points for the Hornets going seven of eight from the free-throw line. Chris Sights also added 11 points for the Hornets. Troy Pierce had seven points and a game high nine rebounds as ESU outrebounded the Swedes 43-28 on the night. Justin Ikhide added eight points and also pulled down six boards.

ESU will be back in action on Nov. 25 when they face Central Oklahoma in the Southwest Baptist Thanksgiving Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from Bolivar, Mo.
