November 15, 2011-Justin Ikhide scored a career high 20 points to lead three Hornets in double figures as Emporia State defeated Friends 85-67 in White Auditorium to open the Shaun Vandiver era.

The Hornets used a 13-2 run to turn a one point lead with 6:23 left in the first half into a 12 point lead with 1:53 left. Taylor Euler hit back to back threes for the Hornets during the run as ESU took a 35-24 lead to the locker rooms.

The Hornets lead grew to 26 points at 60-34 midway through the second half on a layup by Derrell Conner before settling in for the 18 point win.

ESU shot .545 from the field in the second half as they expaned their lead and shot .484 from the field for the night. ESU would also win the rebounding battle pulling down 37 boards to 31 by the Falcons.

Ikhide was joined in double figures by Conner with 17 points and Antonio DiMaria with 11 points and a game high seven rebounds. Euler ended the game with nine points, six assists and five rebounds.

The Hornets are backin action on Nov. 21 when they play host to Bethany in White Auditorium.
