June 18, 2012-The MIAA announced its 2011-12 academic awards and 144 Hornets were honored for carrying at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA at the end of the spring semester.
Emporia State had 144 honorees on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, given to student-athletes that have at least a 3.00 GPA with two terms or more at their institution. The 23 Hornets honored with the MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, given to those with at least a 3.50 GPA and a spot on their sport's all-MIAA team, are the second most of any conference school. Emporia State had two student-athletes earn the MIAA Academic Excellence Award, given to student-athletes with a perfect 4.00 GPA and at least two teams of attendance at their school.
