Coach Daniel Goodman enters his fifth season as an assistant coach. In addition to coaching the running backs and stinger backs for the fourth year, Goodman will serve as special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Hornets. In 2019, Goodman coached centers and guards.

Goodman returned to Emporia State in 2019 after spending the 2017 and 2018 seasons as a defensive quality control assistant for NCAA FCS Champion North Dakota State. In his time at North Dakota State, Goodman was part of two national champion teams, including an undefeated 2018 Bison team.
Goodman began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Emporia State, where he coached the tight ends in 2015 and 2016. He helped lead the 2015 Hornet team to the Super Region 3 championship game, the furthest run Emporia State has ever made in the Division ll playoffs. Goodman also helped lead the 2016 Hornet team to the first ever Division II home playoff win.
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Goodman was a four-year letterman at center for the Hornets, earning All-MIAA honors in both his junior and senior seasons. Goodman was also named a team captain his senior year. Goodman was the starting center for the Hornets team that advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs in 2013, the Hornets first playoff game in ten years. Goodman was also a member of the 2012 Hornet team that beat Texas A&M – Kingsville 45-38 in the Kanza Bowl.
Goodman also served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Hornets from 2019 to 2023.
A native of Emporia, KS, Goodman earned his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State in 2014 and earned his master’s degree in 2016. Goodman resides in Emporia with his wife, Rachel, who is also an Emporia State alum. The couple has a son, Marshall and a daughter, Millie.
