Brett McLaughlin is in his 5th year in charge of external operations and marketing at Emporia State.
 
The now Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Operations & Marketing, McLaughlin began as the Director of Marketing in September 2017 and added Ticket Operations in June 2018.  In June 2019, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of External Operations, Associate Athletic Director in July 2021, and currently as Senior Associate Athletic Director in May 2022.  
 
He came to Emporia State from Wichita State University where he served as a Marketing Associate.  Before Wichita State, he was at Friends University where he worked in Residence Life and volunteered in the athletic department in game operations and was the live stream play-by-play caller for football and basketball.
 
McLaughlin is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) where he has served as a Conference Representative for the MIAA.  He is also a member of the MIAA Basketball Tournament Committee and has been the floor producer for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament.
 
Originally from North Carolina, McLaughlin has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  He has a Master’s in Sport Management from Wichita State University and a Master’s in Global Leadership and Management from Friends University. 
 
He lives in Emporia with his wife, Joey, 3 year old daughter, Hallie, and 4 year old pup, Winnie.
