Emporia State University Head Track and Field Coach Steve Blocker announced the addition of Abby Wagner to the staff on August 1, 2020, completing the staff as it begins its preparations for the 2020-21 Cross Country and Track & Field seasons. "Abby is a tremendous addition to our staff and I am excited to bring her expertise to our team. She was a successful athlete and also brings leadership and practical experience to our program" Blocker said. 

A former track & field athlete for Shippensburg University, Wagner will serve as the graduate assistant coach for the track & field and cross country programs where she will be tasked with coaching the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Wagner will also assist Steve Blocker in all aspects of recruiting. 

Before coming to Emporia State, Wagner spent four years at Shippensburg University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. While at Shippensburg, Wagner was a standout triple jumper for the Red Raiders. With a personal best of 12.71m (41'8.5"), Wagner was a 3x All-American in the triple jump and was the PSAC conference champion in the triple jump during the 2018 Outdoor season and 2019 Indoor season. Wagner also competed in the long jump with her best mark being 5.89m (19'4").

The Altoona, Pennsylvania native spent her collegiate career at Shippensburg University where she was apart of 5 PSAC Conference Championship teams. While being an elite triple jumper at the NCAA Division II level, Wagner will bring her experience and knowledge to the Emporia State Track & Field and Cross Country programs.
