Brian McIntosh is in his second season as the assistant coach at Emporia State.

“I am as excited as I could be to have Brian on staff,” said Collins. “He brings a tremendous work ethic, unbelievable organization, and a passion for the game of basketball.”

A 2000 graduate of Emporia State, McIntosh has six years of head coaching experience and four years experience as an assistant at the high school level. He spent two seasons prior to coming to ESU, rebuilding the Shawnee Mission Northwest girls program, improving their win total each year. He was the boys head coach at Madison HS, going 47-44 in four years with a regional championship and two appearances in the Class 1A sub state tournament.

“It’s an amazing oppurtunity for myself and my family to be an assistant coach at a program like Emporia State,” said McIntosh. “I’m extremely excited to be coaching at my alma mater.”

McIntosh spent four years as an assistant coach at the high school level with both girls and boys programs. As an assistant at Gardner-Edgerton HS, he helped the Trailblazers to two sub-state championship games and one appearance in the Class 5A state tournament. He spent two years as an assistant and sophomore boys coach at Shawnee Mission South HS.

A graduate of Marais Des Cygne Valley HS, McIntosh played collegiately at Ft. Scott CC and Mid-America Nazarene before graduating cum laude from Emporia State. He was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in ESU’s Health Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Department in 2000.

“Brian’s easy going personality and communication skill are a great asset to our program and players as well as make him very good on the recruiting trail,” said Collins. “We’re lucky to have him at Emporia State.”

McIntosh and his wife Jacy have one daughter, Gentry Ann.
