Payson made numerous trips to the 4A State Championships in both basketball and track and field. In his final season, Maydew was the runner-up in the 300m hurdles at the State meet.
Personal
Payson's decathlon days started in 2010 with AAU and USATF track where he earned his first All-American of his age group with a top 8 finish at the Junior Olympics...he is the son of Troy and Kelley Maydew and has two siblings Jenson and Kierson.
