Fitzmaurice is a graduate from Shawnee Mission South HS where he was on the 2nd place team at the Kansas State Eco Meet.

At ESU
2019-20: As a Freshman for the Hornets, Fitzmaurice will specialize in longer distance events including cross country. Fitzmaurice started his collegiate track & field career at the Shocker Prelude where he ran a 9:49.27 3000 meters. Fitzmaurice later set a new 5000 meter PR at the Bearcat Open where he ran a 17:27.99. Fitzmaurice's outdoor season was canceled due to COVID-19.
2020-21: Fitzmaurice set a lifetime best in the 5000 meters at the Wichita State Open where he ran 16:30.38. The following week he ran his first 10k for the Hornets where he clocked a 36:17.46 at the Midwest Classic.
