During the 2017 season, Gutierrez was all-state in the 4x400 relay and was honorable mention in the sunflower league for the 4x400 relay. The following season, Gutierrez was apart of the 4x400 relay State champion team and received honorable mention in the sunflower league in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
At ESU
2018-19: A Freshman for the Hornets, Gutierrez will focus on improving his PR's of 11.51 (100), 23.99 (200), and 51.20 (400). Gutierrez spent most of the indoor season training with the 600 yards where he ran a best time of 1:20.30 at the Crimson & Gold Invite.
2019-20: Gutierrez comes off an outdoor season where he battled a torn hamstring and now he looks to improve upon his Freshman year marks. Gutierrez would run a PR in the 60 meter dash at the UCM Invite by running a 7.53. He would run another PR two weeks later at the Steve Miller Open by running a 23.92 for 200 meters. Gutierrez's outdoor season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Born February 21, 2000...son of Aracely and Julio Lagunes...has two siblings, Mateo and Sophia...majoring in Economics.
