Phillips is a graduate of Lincoln College Prep where he was All-State twice and was a member of the honor roll.

At ESU
2020-21: Phillips starts his collegiate career with the Hornets as a sprinter and looks to become a contributor come championship season. Phillips was finding his feet during the indoor season and started hitting stride come outdoors. He opened the outdoor season with a PR of 22.46 in the 200 meters at the ESU Spring Invitational. A few weeks later at the Wichita State Open, Phillips ran a 10.89 100 meter dash, another lifetime best.
