In HS
A graduate from Andover Central, Maki was apart of a 2nd and 3rd place team finish in Cross Country along with a 6th place finish in the 3200 at state. Maki was a part of the 1st team all-league and 2nd team all-state while at Andover Central.
At ESU
2018: One of the Hornets newest members, Maki will look to improve his times of 4:41 (1600) and 16:54 (5000) during the cross country and track and field seasons.
2019: Maki found his identity towards the end of the track season as he took to the 10k. He returns for his second cross country season with the Hornets as one of the top runners on the team. Maki looks to have a breakout year in cross country this season. Maki was the top runner for the Hornets at the J.K. Gold Classic completing the 6k course in a PR of 19:26.3.
2020: Maki's season was canceled due to COVID-19.
2021: Maki had a successful start to his senior year with a 13th overall place finish at the MOSO Stampede, followed by a record breaking performance where he won the ESU Invitational in a time of 24:49. He would improve that PR two weeks later with a time of 24:31 at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open. He would continue the same success into the postseason by achieving All Conference and All Central Region Honors while placing 8th in both races. He closed the season out with a top 50 finish at NCAA Nationals in St. Leo, Florida. He looks to carry the same success into his 2022 Track season.Â
