Dwayne Paul

Dwyane Paul is in his fourth year as Emporia State's assistant men's basketball coach. He replaced Wes Book who left the program in the summer of 2013 to move to the high school ranks at Gardner-Edgerton HS. Paul had been a full-time assistant at Henderson State the two seasons prior to moving to ESU as the Reddies went 30-24 overall. He spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of Wyoming, where he worked with coach Vandiver.

Paul enjoyed a long, successful basketball playing career that culminated with playing professional ball for the East Kentucky Miners of the CBA.  He began his college basketball career at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas. He was a preseason NJCAA All-American that led the Harvesters to a #1 national ranking as he averaged 21.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore.

Paul transferred to Birmingham Southern for the 2005-06 season and averaged 11.1 points and 5.7 rebounds a game. He spent his senior season at Murray State and scored 4.3 points and pulled down 3.5 rebounds per game in 29 games.

He was born in Port Arthur, Texas and moved to Arlington, Texas at the age of six. He was a three year starter and District MVP at Arlington Bowie HS.
