Trip Shannon is in his second year as Director of Football Operations/Alumni Relations. In this capacity, Shannon supports the Hornet coaching staff and players by planning and managing:
• Operating budget
• Travel
• Equipment
• Procurement and contracts
• Non-conference scheduling
• Team and recruiting events
• Relationships with other departments on campus
• Alumni relationships, events and activities
Shannon joined the Hornet football program full-time in August 2023 after serving in a volunteer capacity since 2018.
Shannon was a four-year letterman for head coaches Bob Seaman and Larry Kramer from 1981 to 1984 and was a captain on the 1984 team. Shannon earned honorable mention all-conference and academic all-conference honors in 1984. Shannon coached tight ends as a student assistant in 1985 before embarking on a 35-year business career.
Shannon is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Emporia State University Foundation.
Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Emporia State in 1985 and passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in 1986.
Shannon and his wife Kim, also an Emporia State graduate, have two adult daughters, Caroline and Natalie.
