Matt Martin

Matt Martin is in his sixth season as a coach Emporia State. He returned to his alma mater in 2010 following two years of coaching at Nebraska-Kearney. This is his fourth season as receivers coach and his third as special teams coordinator.

Last season he coached Shjuan Richardson to All-American honors as he ranked second in single season receiving yards.  He moved into second in career receiving yards as well.  The Hornets had two receivers earn All-MIAA honors last season and they have picked up four all-conference honors in the last three seasons.

Martin spent the first four years of his coaching career on the defensive side of the football. He spent two seasons at Neb.-Kearney serving as the Loper’s outside linebacker coach.

Following an outstanding playing career he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Emporia State where he coached the safeties.

Martin was a four year letterwinner for the Hornets and was a two-time team captain for the 2002 Mineral Water Bowl and 2003 MIAA Championship teams.
