Chris Pope is in his first season as a defensive graduate assistant.  Pope will help coach the defensive backs.
 
Pope joins the coaching staff after playing for the Hornets in 2022 and 2023.  In his two seasons with the Hornets, Pope saw action in 20 games, recording 69 tackles and breaking up eight passes.  Pope transferred to Emporia State in 2022 after playing the 2018 to 2021 seasons at the University of Northern Colorado.
 
Pope earned a Master of Business Administration and Information Systems Technology from Emporia State in May of 2024.  Pope earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Northern Colorado in December of 2021.
