In 2017, Kastens hit .357 with a team high .661 slugging percentage and a .383 on base percentage. He had 20 hits that included three doubles, a triple and four home runs. Kastens scored 15 runs and brought in 20 RBI. He hit .455 with runners in scoring position.
 
As a sophomore last season at Hutchinson Community College, Kastens played in 57 of 59 games with a .301 batting average and an on base percentage of .371. He finished the season with 56 hits including six doubles, one triple, five home runs, 24 RBI and 47 runs scored.
 
During his freshman year at Hutchinson Community College in 2015, Kastens played in 43 of 55 games with a .300 batting average and a .423 on base percentage. He finished the year with 39 hits that included five doubles, a home run, 26 RBI and 31 runs scored.
 
Kastens was a three-sport athlete at Denver Christian High School, helping with three state championships in basketball and baseball. His junior year he was named the 2A Player of Year in baseball.
 
Kastens is majoring in Recreation and is the son of Ellen and James Kastens.
