In the 2017 season, Gieber threw 45.2 innings and had eight starts. He had a 2-0 record on the season. Gieber had 33 strikeouts to just nine walks.
 
In the 2016 season for the Hornets, Gieber started two games, throwing 11 innings with a 3.27 ERA and a 2-0 record before getting a forearm injury leading to a medical redshirt.

Gieber played at Cowley County Community College for his freshman and sophomore years in 2014-15. In his sophomore year he appeared in 14 games, starting in nine games posting a record of 4-1 in 47.2 innings. Gieber ended the year with a 4.91 ERA while the team compiled a record of 54 wins and 5 losses.

Gieber attended Concordia High School where he played four years of baseball and football. He finished runner-up in the 4A state tournament in 2012.

Gieber is majoring in Business Administration and is the son of David and Martina Gieber.
