HISTORY OF SUCCESS
Emporia State University’s Baseball Program has a long history of success and is one of the most decorated athletic programs at Emporia State. The program’s history of winning has given it visibility at a national level with 12 conference championships and 25 combined NAIA and NCAA Division II tournament appearances leading to participation at nine (9) College World Series tournaments. Emporia State baseball teams have represented the University well with one third place finish, two second place finishes and one National Championship while competing at the College World Series.
Players and coaches have also received elite recognition for their achievements at ESU. Emporia State Baseball is represented nationally with 15 First Team All Americans, 15 Second Team All Americans and 41 Honorable Mention/Third Team All Americans. Three players have been recognized by winning the National Player of the Year Award and one coach was named the NAIA Coach of the Year three times. While participating at the College World Series, 12 players have been placed on the CWS All Tournament Team, two players have been chosen as the Charles Berry Hustle Award winner and one player was selected as the CWS Most Valuable Player.
ESU LEGACY HONORS
The ESU Baseball Legacy Awards are an opportunity for our baseball program to honor players, coaches and teams that established a standard of excellence in baseball at ESU. These Honorees will be recognized for leaving their legacy by significantly contributing to the National Notoriety of our baseball program, our history of success and a tradition of winning.
Criteria for consideration has been established and a framework for the nomination committee and selection committee has been built. There are two paths for induction as a Legacy Member:
- Automatic Qualifier
- College World Series Team Appearance (Team Induction)
- First Team All American (Individual Induction)
- Selection Committee Qualifier is based on significant contributions to a high achieving and successful team(s) that helped build our legacy of success at ESU:
- National Recognition and Notoriety
- Significant single season and/or career and/or all-time statistics
- History of Leadership for the team and program
