April 9, 2026-For the second year in a row and the first time for the men's team, Emporia State will be coming home from the College Disc Golf Championships with a national title as
Jaden Rye came away with an impressive six stroke victory in the men's D1 singles competition in Rock Hill, S.C.

Rye had a four stroke lead entering the Final 9 competition on Thursday. After a bogey on the first hole he proceeded to birdie the next seven to take an almost insurmountable lead on Jared Henderson of Auburn who finished second. Rye shot -5 for the final nine holes and finished with -11 for the two days.Â
Carter Ahrens finished tied for sixth at even par for the event.
Earlier in the day the two of them combined with
TJ Reel and
Tyler Ahrens to shoot -10 under in the team competition. They would get an eagle on the par four 17
th before hitting par on 18 to put them at -9 after two rounds of the team competition. North Carolina State and Milligan are three back -6 after two days.

In the women's competition the Emporia State Black team of
Madeline Joiner and
Isabella Parker are tied for second at -7 after the first team round. They entered play on Thursday at even par and shot -7 on the round. The ESU Gold team of
Atlanta Krueger and
Maya Ringgold shot -10 on the round to go to -4 for the championships and moved up to fourth place. The Hornets White team of
Sariah Pittenger-Reed and
Olivia Evans are tied for 13
th out of 32 teams at +17 headed into Friday third round.

The Hornet men's D2 team of
Isaiah Esquivel,
Caden Stucky,
Joshua Sterner and
Grant Yoder birdied eight out of the back nine holes for -7 on the day and moved up seven spots from day one into second place overall.

Round three of the National Championships will begin at 9:30 a.m. (ET) for Emporia State with the ESU White team of Pittenger-Reed and Evans teeing off followed by the Black team of Joiner and Parker along with Krueger and Ringgold on the same card at 10:20 a.m. at Westminster Park. The men's D2 team of Esquivel, Stucky, Sterner and Yoder will tee off at 11:50 a.m. (ET) at the Winthrop University Rec Area while the men's D1 team of Reel, Rye, Carter and
Tyler Ahrens will tee off at the same time at Canaan Riverbend.
