February 6, 2026-Emporia State opened the spring tennis season with a 6-1 win over Bethel on Friday at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex.

DOUBLES
The Hornets swept through the double competition with
Sheriden Wichman and
Victoria Debono winning 6-3 at #2 followed by
Yuliya Klimova and
Carla Paul Piquer winning 6-3 at #1 to clinch the point.Â
Erin Cahill and
Giulia Russu finished the double sweep with a 6-2 win at the third spot.

SINGLES
Klimova wasted little time getting a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1 to start singles play. Wichman gave Emporia State a 3-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at #3 and Paul Piquer clinched the dual with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4 singles. The Threshers picked up a win a #2 to avoid the sweep before
Erin Cahill with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #5 and
Giulia Russu with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #6 closed out the match.

The next action for Emporia State will be an exhibition against Seward County CC on Saturday. First serve from the Kossover Family Tennis Complex is set for 4:00 p.m.
