February 3, 2026-The Emporia State men's tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday at the Kossover Family Tennis Center.

Anton Sarunic and
Diego Calvo set the tone early with a 6-0 win for the Hornets at #2 doubles. The Coyotes evened doubles with a 7-6 (7-3) at #1 before
Alexis Mattenberger and
Roko Kacer clinched the point with a 6-2 win at #3.

Emporia State did not drop a set during the single competition. Sarunic won 6-0, 6-1 at #1,
Mostafa Elbasnaly took a 6-1, 6-2 win at #2 and
Diego Calvo clinched the dual win with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 singles.Â
Alexis Mattenberger won 6-2, 6-2 at #4,
Roko Kacer took a 6-1, 6-0 win at #5 and
Luke West closed the dual with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #6 singles.

The Hornets will be back in action on Sunday with an exhibition dual against Seward County CC at the Kossover Family Tennis Center. The next regular season action will be on Friday, February 13 at William Jewell in Liberty, Mo.
