October 1, 2026-Emporia State is one of just four schools in the nation - and the only MIAA school – to have nationally ranked football and volleyball teams. This Saturday Emporia, Kan. will be the only town in the place in the country with their nationally ranked teams hosting games adn Hornet fans will be able to catch both nationally ranked teams in action for the price of one ticket.
Fans that attend the #10 Emporia State football game against Missouri Western in Welch Stadium in the afternoon can bring their ticket to White Auditorium on Saturday night for a Top 20 volleyball Turnpike Tussle between #17 Emporia State and #14 Washburn.
The top pass defense in the MIAA will face the top passing offense in the league when #10 Emporia State plays host to Missouri Western. The Hornet defense, led by All-American
Landon Boss, is ranked second in the nation in defensive pass efficiency while the Griffons are third in the nation in passing yards this season. Kick-off of the MIAA TV Game of the Week is set for 1:05 p.m.
Two of the best teams in the nation at finishing rallies will be on display in White Auditorium. Emporia State is seventh in the nation in kills with 2025 MIAA Freshman of the Year
Lavra Krizanic leading the MIAA while Washburn leads the MIAA and is third in the nation in kills. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
As of Thursday night less than 260 reserved seat tickets remain for the Hornet football game on Saturday. So far this season Emporia State has played to 95% capacity of Welch Stadium in their two home games.
The Hornet volleyball team drew 1,017 fans to their 3-0 win over Pittsburg State on Tuesday night. It was the tenth crowd in ESU volleyball history of at least 1,000 in White Auditorium and the first since 2012.
