January 3, 2026 – The Lady Hornets struggled on the road in the Turnpike Tussle, falling 86-59 against Washburn on Saturday afternoon.
The first quarter told the story that described much of the matchup, as the Ichabods jumped out to a 16-2 lead before Lady Hornets first field goal came at the 3:12 mark of the first frame. Emporia State trailed 23-6 heading into the second, and despite the offense picking up for the Lady Hornets, the lead for the Ichabods only grew.
The hosts took a 49-26 lead into the halftime break, in large part due to shooting 11-17 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes.
Following the break, the Lady Hornets put together their highest scoring quarter of the afternoon, scoring 23 points on 6-14 shooting, but were unable to make up any ground on Washburn as the Ichabods shot 75% from the floor and scored 24 of their own as they led the Lady Hornets 73-49 entering the final frame.
Emporia State converted just two field goals in the fourth as Washburn held on for the 86-59 win over the Lady Hornets in the Turnpike Tussle.
