January 22, 2026 – The Lady Hornets struggled to find their footing offensively on Thursday night, falling 72-51 against Northeastern State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The offensive struggles began early as the Lady Hornets made just three of their first ten field goals, and Emporia State had five first-quarter turnovers as they trailed the Riverhawks 19-12 through the first frame.
Emporia State's shooting percentage dipped further in the second, as they shot 4-16 from the field, and entered the halftime break trailing 36-24.
Following the break, Northeastern State's lead continued to grow as they nearly doubled the third quarter total from the Lady Hornets. Emporia State was outscored 21-11 in the frame and trailed 57-35, which was the largest deficit of the game.
The fourth quarter proved to be the best offensive frame of the night for the Lady Hornets, as they shot 7-13 from the floor and 7-10 from the free throw line on their way to outscoring the Riverhawks 22-17.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State converted just 20 of 57 field goal attempts for 35.1% shooting on the night, while the Riverhawks made exactly half of their field goal attempts.
