January 15, 2026 – The Lady Hornets were unable to find rhythm on offense throughout the game, as they fell 63-52 against the Ichabods on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Hornets and Washburn traded baskets throughout the early minutes of the first quarter as a three by
Gracie Gilpin put Emporia State ahead 10-9 at the 5:13 mark of the frame. However, Emporia State missed their final six attempts of the first quarter and trailed the Ichabods 14-10 heading to the second.
In the second, the Lady Hornets missed their first four attempts before a jumper by
Makenzie McDaniel made the score 18-12 to snap the skid. Emporia State's shooting struggles persisted as they converted just 5-16 attempts in the quarter, trailing 28-21 heading into halftime.
Following the break, Emporia State would duplicate their second quarter performance, shooting just 5-16 as the Washburn outscored the Lady Hornets 22-13 and expanded their lead to 50-34.
Both teams struggled to find the basket in the fourth, with the two teams combining to miss 12 consecutive shots to begin the frame. Washburn eventually broke the slump and scored seven straight to take a 57-34 lead, their largest advantage of the game. Emporia State outscored the Ichabods 18-6 over the final five minutes, but it wasn't enough for the Lady Hornets as they fell 63-52.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State shot just 21-65 from the floor and was outrebounded by Washburn 45-34. The Ichabods held a 44-22 edge in points in the paint.

Makenzie McDaniel added ten points of her own.
