STAY CLASSY SAN DIEGO
Emporia State travels west to San Diego as the Hornets begin year three under Ken Murczek at the San Diego Invite. The trip includes three first-time matchups, with the hosts, #16 Point Loma to open the season on Thursday, September 4. Cal-State San Bernardino, who is receiving votes, and Northwest Nazarene will round out the trip on Friday and Saturday.

ABOUT THE COACHES
Ken Murczek begins his third season at Emporia State and has a 30-26 record through the first two years. Prior to Murczek's arrival in 2023, the Hornets last made a trip to the MIAA Tournament in 2018, and have made the trip to each of the first two seasons in his tenure.
Jonathan Scott
is entering his 12th season at Point Loma and has a 183-108 record with the Sea Lions. Scott has led Point Loma to 20-plus wins in each of the last three seasons.
Kim Cherniss
is entering her 35th season at CSU-San Bernardino and has a 772-252 record with the Coyotes. Her tenure began in 1991 and includes a national championship in 2019 as the Coyotes went 33-0.
Doug English
is 175-136 entering his 13th season at Northwest Nazarene. In his tenure with the Nighthawks, English has led NNU to the NCAA Tournament three times.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State enters 2025 following a 17-10 campaign last season, which was the most wins for the Hornets since 2013. The Hornets also went 9-7 in the MIAA, finishing sixth in the standings before falling to eventual MIAA Tournament and Central Regional champs Central Oklahoma in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Key returners for Emporia State include Camilla Ossola, Mia Frisbie and Brailee Bogle. Ossola had 241 kills and average nearly three kills per set last season on a .245 hitting percentage on the outside. Frisbie is the leader in the middle, as she tallied 81 kills in attack while racking up 12 solo blocks and 81 block assists during her freshman season. At setter, Bogle surpassed 1,000 assists in 2024, pushing her total through her first two seasons to 1,941. Notable newcomers include Nyia Anderson, Brooklyn Weaver, Delainee Dexter, and Boglarka Rady.

SCOUTING THE SEA LIONS
Point Loma is coming off a 26-2 season in 2024 as they enter year twelve under Jonathan Scott. The 26 wins for the Sea Lions is the most since Point Loma transitioned to D-II in 2014. Abigail Nua and Saren Rogers return for the Sea Lions to lead the attack, as they combined for 646 kills last season, with Nua averaging more than four kills per set. Sophia Baugh returns at setter following 979 assists as a sophomore in 2024.

SCOUTING THE COYOTES
CSU-San Bernardino is coming off a 15-11 season in 2024, the Coyotes' lowest win total since the 1996 season. In the attack, Savannah Hoffman and Kacie Pedersen are the leading returners with a 205 and 153 kills in 2024 respectively. Jaiden Van Horn played as part of a two-setter rotation last season as a freshman, and will continue in that role after 571 assists a year ago.

SCOUTING THE NIGHTHAWKS
Northwest Nazarene is coming off a 9-17 season in 2024 and will be led in 2025 by Abby Black in the attack. Black tallied 282 kills, averaging 2.85 per set as a redshirt sophomore. Morgan Wilding played in 53 sets and average 5.38 assists per set in her time played as a sophomore.
