Three Emporia State Women Advance to Sunday at ITA Regionals

September 20, 2025-Three Emporia State women have advanced to Sunday's play at the ITA Regional Tournament at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla.
 
Giovanna Ferreira will play in the Flight B semifinals after defeating Agustina Abdo of Neb.-Kearney 7-5, 6-3 and Southern Arkansas's Camila Corrales 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) on Saturday. She is scheduled to play Daisy Barrow from Northeastern State at 9:00 a.m. for a chance to play for the flight championship.
 
Yuliya Klimova has advanced to the consolation bracket semifinals in Flight A.  She won 6-1, 6-4 over Jolina Mass of Southern Arkansas and then took a three set match from Martina Sofia Sfilio 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 1-0 (10-6). She will play Monica Balau of Arkansas Tech at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday with a berth in the consolation bracket final on the line.
 
Erin Cahill is the other Hornet who advanced to Sunday in singles play. She advanced to the Flight B consolation semifinals with a walkover win due to injury over Newman's Luciana Flores Urey on Saturday.  Cahill will take on Antonietta Bocache of Arkansas-Fort Smith at 9:00 am on Sunday in the semifinals.
 
Cahill and Giulia Russu along with Klimova and Carla Paul Piper picked up doubles wins before falling in the quarterfinals of Flight B's consolation bracket.
 
As a team Emporia State went 7-5 on Saturday with a 5-2 mark in singles play,
