May 3, 2025 – Emporia State baseball returns to the MIAA Tournament for the first time since 2022, as the Hornets earned the ninth seed heading to Joplin next week.
 
The Hornets finished the regular season with a 23-24 overall record, and 16-20 record in the MIAA this season, as they are returning to the MIAA Tournament for the first time since 2022. Emporia State earned the ninth seed, as they will take on the hosts Missouri Southern in game two of the MIAA First Round at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Warren Turner Field in Joplin, Mo.
 
The matchup between the Hornets and Lions will be the first time since 2017 that Emporia State has met Missouri Southern in the MIAA Tournament, and the eighth meeting between the two teams in MIAA Tournament history.
 
Emporia State's 23 wins and .444 win percentage in MIAA play are the best since the 2019 season.
