April 25, 2025 – Emporia State women's tennis secured a spot in the MIAA Tournament with sweep of Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday.
The day got started with
Lilie Bizouerne and
Perla Conde sweeping #2 doubles 6-0 and after the Hornets fell at #1 doubles,
Anastasia Pesic and
Sheriden Wichman secured the doubles point for Emporia State with a 6-4 win at #3.
Emporia State took all six singles matches in straight sets, with
Paige Stranghoner grabbing the second point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6. A 6-2, 6-2 win by
Anastasia Pesic and a 6-3, 6-2 win by
Giovanna Ferreira at #1 clinched the match for the Hornets. The day finished with a 6-2, 6-1 win by
Yuliya Klimova at #2, a 6-2, 6-3 win by
Perla Conde at #3, and a 7-7 (7-3), 6-2 win at #4 by
Lilie Bizouerne as Emporia State took the match 7-0 against the Lions.
With the sweep, Emporia State secured a spot in the MIAA Tournament which will take place on May 2-4 in Springfield, Mo. at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
