SERIES HISTORY WITH THE RAMBELLES
This is the first meeting between Emporia State and San Angelo State in women's basketball. The Lady Hornets and Rambelles were both in the same regional tournament from 2003-08, but never met. They both fell to Drury in 2003 and Washburn in 2005 and 2008. The two schools have met a limited number of times in other sports, most notably in baseball and softball. The baseball Hornets won two games from the Rams in the 2009 NCAA Regional on the way to a national runner-up finish. Emporia State won the first game 23-0 and then won 5-3 in an elimination game in Warrensburg, Mo. however Angelo State leads the all-time series 3-2. The two have met 18 times in softball, including four in NCAA Tournament play with the most recent post season meeting a 1-0 Hornet win in 2011 in Wichita Falls, Texas, as Angelo State holds a 12-6 overall advantage. In other sports Emporia State leads 5-4 in volleyball while trailing 1-2-1 in soccer and the Rams have won the only meeting in men's basketball. They just split a home and home series in football with Emporia State winning 17-12 in Welch Stadium in 2024 and Angelo State picking up a 41-20 win in LeGrand Stadium this fall.
