October 26, 2025-Emporia State earned their bid to the D1Men's Collegiate Disc Golf Championships but came up one stroke short of the tournament title at the Midwest Collegiate Takeover II presented by Ledgestone over the weekend.

The foursome of
TJ Reel,
Isaiah Esquivel,
Carter Ahrens and Mica Tatro shot -29 on the weekend to finish one stroke behind the University of Cincinnati in the two day event in Morton, Ill.

After the first team round on Saturday they were tied at -14 heading into singles play. Cincinnati combined for an eight under in singles compared to Emporia State's seven under as the Bearcats led by a stroke after day one.

Sunday's final round saw Cincinnati birdie the first four holes to take a four stroke lead. Starting on #8, Emporia State birdied six of eight holes to take a one stroke lead with three holes left. The Bearcats got birdies on 16 and 17 to take a one stroke lead while the Hornets made par.

With the second place showing Emporia State secured their bid to the College Disc Golf Championships scheduled for April 8-11 in Rock Hill, S.C. The next action for the Hornets will be the Mid-American Regional Championships on November 15-16 in Emporia. All of Emporia State's men's and women's teams are scheduled to compete at the various disc golf parks around Emporia.
