January 30, 2025-The Lady Hornets used a 15-0 run in the first half to take control on the way to a 73-49 win over Rogers State on Thursday night in White Auditorium.

Ella Hafer hit a jumper at the 7:16 mark to give the Hillcats a 4-3 with 7:16 left.Â
Elizabeth Tjaden got a steal and layup to start the 15-0 run for Emporia State. Five different Lady Hornets scored during the run capped by a
Makenzie McDaniel layup with 2:15 left in the quarter that gave Emporia State an 18-4 lead. Tjaden was fouled on a three-point attempt with 1.7 seconds left and hit all three charities to give the Lady Hornets a 23-7 lead after one.

Emporia State scored eight of the first ten points of the second quarter to extend their run to 13-2.
Janiyah Alvarez scored on a jumper to give the Lady Hornets their biggest lead of the half at 31-9 with 6:29 left. The Hillcats closed to within 17 with 2:48 left in the half before Emporia State took a 4020 lead into the locker room.

Rogers State used a 7-0 run to pull within 12 at 44-32 with 6:41 left in the third quarter. Emporia State answered with a 7-0 run of their own to push the lead back to 19 at 51-32 on two free throws from
Katie Horyna with 5:12 left in the period. The Lady Hornets would hold on to the 19 point lead going to the fourth getting a pair of free throws from
Macey Gandee with 45 seconds left to make it 60-41.

Tjaden gave Emporia State their biggest lead of the game at 69-42 with 5:57 remaining to cap off an 11-1 run and the Lady Hornets cruised to the 14 point win.

Elizabeth Tjaden led Emporia State with 15 points and was joined in double figures by
Macey Gandee with 11 and
Jayla Cornelius with ten points. The Lady Hornets outrebounded the Hillcats 44-33 on the night.

The Lady Hornets will be back in action on Sunday, February 2 when they play host to Central Oklahoma on Cancer Awareness Day. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. with Senior Day activities beginning at approximately 1:20 p.m.
